Fever: A Healing Response and the Role of Acupuncture

Fever: A Healing Response and the Role of Acupuncture
Few symptoms create as much anxiety as fever. The moment the thermometer shows a higher-than-normal temperature, many people immediately look for ways to bring it down. However, fever itself is not a disease. It is one of the body’s natural responses to illness and infection.
Throughout my clinical practice, I have observed that many patients fear fever more than the underlying condition. Yet, from a holistic perspective, fever often represents the body’s effort to restore balance and defend itself.
What Is Fever?
Fever is a temporary rise in body temperature that usually occurs when the body is responding to an infection or other challenge. It is a sign that the immune system has become active.
Many people experience symptoms such as:
- Increased body temperature
- Chills
- Sweating
- Fatigue
- Body aches
- Reduced appetite
- General weakness
Looking Beyond the Temperature
In acupuncture and traditional healing systems, practitioners do not focus only on the number shown on a thermometer. Instead, the individual is assessed as a whole.
Final Thoughts
At Zhenchi Kalpa Acupuncture Clinic, we believe in treating the individual, not merely the symptom.
